Urjotsav 17, held from 17th to 19th February was a combination of efforts made by the students and support from the institute to encourage talented students from various parts of the country to showcase their creativity, talent and knowledge. This three-day saga consisted of an avalanche of mind rattling events, scintillating workshops, stimulating exhibitions, embellishing demonstrations and much more. This fest witnessed huge participation from 18 colleges like UPES Dehradun, Dhaanish Ahmed College of Engineering Chennai, AMET University, MIT Pune, RGIPT Jais, JCT Coimbatore, PDPU Gandhinagar, Aditya Engineering College Andhra Pradesh, UTM Shillong, Rajdhani College Delhi, DIT Dehradun, FGIET Rae Bareli, FDDI Fursatganj, Ambalika Lucknow, Graphic Era University Dehradun, Indian Maritime Institute Pune, Chandigarh University and Guru Ghasidas University Bilaspur.

This fest started in the morning of 17th February at 10:00 am with the speech of Overall Coordinator S&T Committee, Mr. Komal Chandra followed by the speeches of Prof. Santanu De (Professor, IIT Kanpur), Prof. Krishnaiah (Ex-Dean IT Madras) and Guest of Honour Mr. L Raghuraman, Business Manager Sim Infosystems under the courteous presence of all the faculty and staff of RGIPT.

This fest was a mixture of 11 formal events which include paper presentation competition, poster presentation competition, Halliburton Case Study, Petromodelo, Chem-e-car, Mud Mash, Chem-e-hawk, Energy Quiz, Petro-wizard, Rock Hawk and MUN; 4 informal events i.e. crude bid, Internshala Resume Scoring, PetroBowl and Business King; 4 Cyber gaming events which include Counter-Strike, NFS Most Wanted, FIFA and Tekken; 5 workshops on simulation by Sim Infosystems, Mobile controlled robotics, ethical hacking, android app development and industrial automation: Guest Lectures by Prof. Santanu De and Prof. Krishnaiah; Motivational Session to all the professors by Prof. Krishnaiah; Corporate Networking Session; Alumni Meet: A Comedy Show by Nitin Gupta (Rivaldo) and Gala Dinner.
